As of April 2025, the European Union has reached a provisional political agreement on revising the Driving Licence Directive, which includes significant updates for bus drivers. This agreement, concluded on 25 March 2025 between the European Parliament and the Council, aims to modernize driving licence rules across the EU. But in the vocational training are adaptations proposed, aiming at increased motivation of the drivers for voacational training. Technologies as AI and virtual reality enter the training methodologies, while member states organize these training in different ways.
