The VELA-ROC Remote Operation & Dynamic-ODD Solution (Operational Design Domain ) enables secure, human-in-the-loop L3/L4 driving for fleets of trucks, buses, and passenger cars operating on public roads and in restricted logistics or mobility zones.
It unites the (Operator-Adaptive Secure Integrated Station (Remote Operation Center) OASIS-ROC Console for multi-vehicle tele-driving, the on-board Dynamic ODD Manager for safe domain expansion, and the
Operator-Ready Context-Aware ORCA-ROC avatar-integrated adaptive HMI for operator guidance— all protected by PRIGM HSM-based security for encrypted control, video, and telemetry over 5G/MEC networks.
The end-to-end system consists of:
Remote Operation Center (ROC) / Cloud Site
– hosts the OASIS-ROC Console, Tele-op Control Core, Security & Identity (PRIGM HSM, PKI, RBAC)and a suite of Cloud-Site Micro-services (Digital Twin, Monitoring, Dashboard, Main, Mobile App, TeleOperation).
5G / MEC connectivity
– provides ultra-low-latency, encrypted bidirectional streaming of control commands, telemetry and multi-camera video.
Vehicle / Edge Stack
– integrates Dynamic ODD Manager, AI4SEC (https://ai4sec.eu/) GenAI-LLM-powered Autonomous Stack , sensors, and Fallback / Safety Maneuver functions for safe stop or crawl in case of link loss.
ORCA-ROC HMI
– supplies the operator with adaptive, avatar-guided, multimodal cues for fast and safe interventions and supports in-cabin / ADAS feature control (HVAC, mirrors, infotainment).
The solution runs as a three-stage loop:
Vehicle-mounted cameras, LiDAR, radar, GPS and other sensors feed into the AI4SEC GenAI-LLM-powered Autonomous Stack for perception, planning and localization.
The Dynamic ODD Manager fuses perception with map, V2X, and environmental data to:
· determine if the scene is inside or at the edge of the validated ODD,
· adjust autonomous policies,
· request tele-operation support when confidence in local autonomy drops.
The ROC receives encrypted video + telemetry streams and vehicle state via PRIGM HSM-secured 5G/MEC (www.prigm.ch).
The OASIS-ROC Console offers operators a unified multi-screen interface that adapts layouts and controls to each vehicle type.
The Tele-op Control Core handles hand-over/hand-back, fuses ADAS alerts and dispatches real-time steering, braking and actuation commands back to the vehicle.
The ORCA-ROC HMI delivers:
context-aware visual, audio and haptic cues (e.g., collision or blind-spot warnings),
avatar-guided micro-training for new operators and recurrent skill refresh,
workload-adaptive layouts and transparency to prevent over- or under-trust.
On-board Fallback / Safety Maneuver ensures a safe stop or crawl if communication is lost.
