Bluewake to Feature Proven Fatigue-Prevention Technology at Busworld Europe
Every day, millions rely on professional bus drivers to transport them safely and on time. Yet fatigue remains one of the most persistent hidden risks in passenger transport. At this year’s Busworld Europe in Brussels, visitors will have the opportunity to see Bluewake’s proven, non-invasive fatigue-prevention technology first-hand at Compak Ramps Stand 841 in Hall 8.
Tackling a Critical Safety Challenge
Driver fatigue is a silent but serious threat in the UK and European bus industry. Late-night schedules, early starts, and extended shifts can all erode alertness, reducing reaction times and increasing accident risk. Industry safety research indicates fatigue may be a factor in up to 30% of serious road incidents involving professional drivers.
For operators across Europe and the UK, the challenge is not just compliance — it’s about protecting staff, safeguarding passengers, and ensuring operational reliability. Bluewake’s technology offers an easy-to-adopt method that integrates seamlessly into existing fleets, helping drivers maintain focus during their most demanding hours on the road.
The Science Behind Bluewake
Bluewake was developed under the leadership of Dr. Marc Hébert, Deputy Scientific Director at the CERVO Brain Research Center, a Full Professor of Ophthalmology at Laval University, and Chief Science Officer and inventor of Bluewake. Dr. Hébert is a recognized expert in the physiological effects of light on the circadian clock, alertness, and human performance. His research over the past two decades laid the scientific foundation for the Bluewake device, particularly its use of pulsed blue light at 480 nm to safely enhance alertness without pharmaceutical or invasive methods.
The device’s patented 70 Hz pulsing technology, invisible to the eye, sits in the high-gamma range — producing a steady-state cortical response associated with sustained attention and mental engagement. This precisely tuned wavelength stimulates the brain’s natural alertness response. Unlike conventional cabin lighting, this targeted light engages the body’s internal systems that regulate wakefulness, supporting safe and sustained driving performance and increased productivity.
Safe for prolonged use and free from harmful UV rays, Bluewake has been tested extensively in demanding operational environments. In trials across multiple industries, including transportation and mining, drivers have reported marked improvements in alertness. One of the largest mines in the world surveyed its operators using Bluewake and found an extraordinary 90% reported the device as effective in combating fatigue.
Compact and easy to install in a driver’s cabin, Bluewake operates without distracting passengers and requires no change to driver behaviour.
Busworld Europe — The Global Stage
Busworld Europe, running from 4–9 October 2025 in Brussels, is the world’s largest trade exhibition for the bus and coach industry. The event attracts more than 500 exhibitors and over 40,000 visitors from across the globe, making it a key meeting point for decision-makers in passenger transport.
For European and UK bus operators, Busworld offers the perfect opportunity to explore solutions that address pressing industry challenges. Bluewake’s presence at Compak Ramps Stand 841 in Hall 3 will allow visitors to learn directly from the team, see the product in operation, and review real-world results from industries where fatigue prevention is mission-critical.
An Open Invitation
Operators and fleet managers attending Busworld Europe are encouraged to stop by Compak Ramps Stand 841 in Hall 3 to experience Bluewake for themselves. Live demonstrations will show exactly how the technology works, supported by trial data and user feedback. Bluewake representatives will also be available to discuss implementation, ROI, and integration into fleet safety strategies.
As safety standards evolve and the demands on drivers continue to grow, Bluewake is setting a new benchmark in driver wellbeing and passenger safety — without compromise.
